About Me
I’m Michael, an artist and engineer. I am currently celebrating my 20th year as a musician and my first year of marriage. In my spare time I build musical instruments, play music, draw, and recently have enjoyed pursuing woodblock printing. I’m a firmware hacker because I can’t stand not knowing how things work all the way down and also because I tried webdev and that shit doesn’t make sense.
A true story: a few months before Covid hit I bought my first Pocket Operator, a PO-20 Arcade. It took getting laid off and diving into audio hardware, plus a few years of blind stumbling for that to lead me into modular synthesizers but now the only thing I want to do is design and build musical instruments.
About Three Lakes
Three Lakes is the maker’s mark under which I share creative and engineering projects. Almost all of my projects are related to synthesizers or music in some way but I also create visual and mixed media art.
